Report: Samsung sold 40 milion Tablets in 2013

According to a report in Korean media, Samsung has sold 40 million tablets in 2013. The number falls right in line with the manufacturer’s expectations which were revealed during an analyst day in November.

Samsung has reportedly sold 12 million tablets over the past three months alone. This is hardly a surprise as the company launched the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) during this period. It also promoted heavily its budget-friendly Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 range by offering discounts and bundling free tablets with other Samsung products.

While 40 million units is already a stellar number, Samsung has even more grandiose plans for 2014. The company allegedly plans to increase the 2013 number of tablets sold by 250% to a whopping 100 million units – in line with previous reports.

The above mentioned growth will be achieved in a fashion, similar to the one Samsung employed on its way to the top of the smartphone world. The company will launch a number of new tablets in different screen sizes, covering every price point on the market.

Now this is the Next Big question after World War 3 coming up. Why Root? The most Common question on every Android User's mind. Well there are numerous reasons you should and there is only One BIG reason to Counter it. So without much delay lets go and find out WHY ROOT?

Well, before we proceed to the BIG Question let me answer some small questions revolving around it.

What is ROOTING?
In layman's term Rooting is a process or rather a step which enables user to access System Files and Data. It not just allows access, but also allows modifying the files and data as per the user's need. The definition may seem to childish but it's for ALL to understand.

Can I revert back the ROOT?

Yes the ROOT Access can be reverted back. Generally it is Done by restoring your Official ROM or sometimes even possible by dedicated apps.
Procedure to ROOT:

Well, each device has a separate procedure, but the General Link is to install a file allowing the access. Now be careful as this file varies with devices and Android Versions. The file and the procedure can be searched for in GOOGLE, however you can leave a Comment if you want me to upload it here.

WHY ROOT?

Advantages:

Theming: Now the most common reason people go for the process is THEMING. Although you can theme a NON-Rooted device by simply installing a good Launcher but you will not be able to theme the App Backgrounds, Settings and Setting Layout. This can be possible with Root Access. This is the reason many people can enjoy JellyBean feel while still being on Gingerbread.

Deleting system Apps: Well you may wonder why to delete the System Apps! But if you observe carefully there are many apps which we rarely use but they still consume space (a big issue on Low-Range devices). Further most of these apps run in the background and consume resoures. This affects the Multi-Tasking ability of the Device. so it's better to remove these apps and keep only what we need.

Adjusting Performance Parameters: Now this is a great aspect of Rooting. Certain apps require Root access and then they allow the user to adjust the performance as per their needs. For example, if you feel that 800 Mhz is a bit low for your needs you can clock the CPU to 1 Ghz (yes this is possible) and vice-versa. Increasing the CPU frequency increases the speed while decreasing it saves power. Also one can Increase the Internal Memory of his/Her device. Not just that one can even Adjust the RAM behavior.

Installing Scripts and Mods: This is an extension of Adjusting performance parameters. There are many Scripts and Mods which enhance various aspects of performance. Some Scripts may enable you to play HD Games(not compatible earlier) while others may enable you to manage RAM better. To get these Mods and Scripts running you need the ROOT access.

Installing Custom ROMs: ROM is like the OS to the phone. Well the OS is Android in any Case but ROM is the Operating Aspect of it. Now Custom Roms provide a hell lot of features which may not be possible with Stock or Official Roms. Also with the help of Custom Roms you can enjoy higher versions of Android without they being Officially released for your device. To make good use again ROOT is required.

Other disadvantages are not directly attributable to ROOTING but to installing MODs, ROMs and other stuff. it is not always that MODs and Scripts are stable. In some cases phone can be unbricked but otherwise they add another aspect to the use of phone (as a paper weight).

Tresorit, a security software manufacturer, has put up an open challenge for the hackers to break into its Cloud Service. Though the challenge was made in the month of April, nobody has been able to defeat it. The offer stands for a good USD 25,000 for anyone who can successfully perform the task. Already a hefty number of 700 hackers, including students from reputed Tech-Schools like MIT, Stanford and Princeton have started chasing the money, for college students, 25k is a pretty large amount of money to be spending their rest of the college days in luxury! This kind of attention has gained Tresorit a lot attention, despite the big-hacker-sharks also getting the attention.

Tresorit deals in encrypted collaboration and storage services. The concern of individual users and businesses about the encryption issues has been raised sky high mostly by the Edward Snowden (the NSA Ex-Contractor who leaked millions of classified secrets from the NSA to the media) case, the today mentality of having most data stored in cloud storage (due to hardware failures these days) and the heightened awareness about keeping the data secured. In 2009, a team European Security Experts started a patented research on Cryptography, which became the base of Tresorit’s security challenge.

Tresorit received a Series-A funding of USD 1.7 mn in 2012 and grew their team to 30 members by 2013’s end. The company targets individuals and small and medium scaled businesses that need collaboration and backup which ensures security, confidentiality and compliance.

Tresorit’s algorithm ensures data protection during storage and access across any and all devices as it uses shareable client-side encryption. 100 GB space on Tresorit’s cloud costs around USD 12.99, which is expected to drop to USD 5.95 by this year’s end, according to a statement from Tresorit. According to Szabolcs Nagy who is the founder of the start-up company that Tresorit has experienced a growth of 20% in the number of users monthly.

The interesting fact here is that the storage offered by the company is located in Europe where data, arguably, is safer than in the US due to the use of the PATRIOT Act by the US agencies, who tend to use any means necessary for eavesdropping, despite the legal limitations in US for the same. To the customers who are within the European Union, Tresorit offers a compelling proposition being locally available and competing with Box or Dropbox.

The only stuff that should make Tresorit worry about is the ways of getting a superior grip of the customers when companies like Dropbox are ahead in competition. Microsoft Skydrive and Google Drive are readily available to the customers who use Microsoft or Google App worlds (Windows Phones and Android Phones) respectively, whereas Dropbox has gained the trust of the customers by offering large and safer storage space. In the business space section, already there exist thousands of companies who are competing to make the customer choose between companies like Box, Egnyte and OxygenCloud and a lot more.

To fight and survive in this market which is currently overflowing with names and offerings, Tresorit has already made a long-term plan which will help in building customer values, increasing commercial success. They talk about timestamping, e-signatures, delivery reports, and another line of audit-level features that they have planned to release in the near future.

As it already appears, the mainstream vendors might think about linking all this space as they are building out the security features they have lacked in the recent past. Paper folding puzzle game KAMI makes the jump to Android from iOS

One of the more popular puzzle games on iOS has made the leap over to Android today. Developed by State of Play Games,KAMI is a very aesthetically beautiful paper folding puzzle game where just looking at the visuals and relaxing while playing is almost as good as playing the actual game itself.

KAMI features 63 unique puzzles to figure out while checking out the Japanese style visuals that were created using actual paper instead of being drawn or rendered by a game engine. Tie that together with a pretty mellow soundtrack and KAMI ends up being a pretty good puzzle game to play. Your goal is to pick a color in each level then try to fill the area available with that color with as few moves as possible.

This is one of those games that you can't really say much about because it's better to just check it out for yourself than read about it. KAMI is available off of Google Play for $0.99 and if you want to see the game in action, you can do so in the video below.

Samsung's GamePad is now an official thing, available in Europe only for right now

Samsung has officially made their game controller for their phones a thing now, releasing it to market already in Europe while everywhere else in the world will be able to buy it soon. Of course that is if you don't already own a MOGA controller, or a SteelSeries one, or a Nyko controller, or any number of ones already available and useable with pretty much any Android device.

Of course you can see by the design of Samsung's GamePad that its direct competition is the already popular MOGA series of controllers that PowerA has been releasing for some time now. This controller features almost everything you'd want in one including D-pad, 2 analog sticks, 2 trigger buttons, and 4 buttons on the front. It supports NFC, HID and Bluetooth 3.0 which means it should have no problem being used with most Android devices, not just Samsung's own.

The GamePad can also be fed into your HDTV via HDMI-out or through Samsung’s AllShare Screen Mirroring if you own a compatible television. The big thing though is game support since if there's no games support it, then the controller is useless. Samsung has said there will be 35 titles available at launch with plenty more arriving in 2014, all of which can be easily found with a special 'Play' button that will list all available compatible games.

As for pricing, Samsung hasn't announced that just yet and it is only available in Europe right now. The rest of us will be able to pick one up in the next couple of weeks.

Cut the Rope and all of its iterations have been some of the best games available on mobile devices. Today, the first true sequel, Cut the Rope 2, has been released for iOS devices, bringing 5 new worlds, 120 new levels, and quite a few other changes to the old physics-based puzzle formula. And, developer ZeptoLab has also given a release window for Android.

As we covered before, one big addition to Cut the Rope 2 is in new companions that are with you in the different worlds. Each companion adds a different gameplay element, like acting as a spring, or creating bridges. But, as you can see in the trailer video below, the real change for this game is that OmNom is no longer stationary in the level. In the other Cut the Rope games, everything revolved around getting the candy to OmNom, but now there are various ways to move OmNom and get him to the candy.

In a more superficial addition, OmNom can now be "customized". It seems that really just means putting on various hats right now, but there could be more updates in the future.

Cut the Rope 2 costs just 99 cents for iOS users, and ZeptoLab has said that the game will be released as free-to-play for Android in early 2014.

6. Enable USB debugging mode on the device. Go to "Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging mode" or "Settings > Developer options > USB debugging"

7. Download the OmniROM 4.4 for the Galaxy Note N7000 and the Google Apps package to the computer.

Note: We are not responsible to any issue or damaged after updating with Android 4.4 KitKat. so try at your own risk, good luck.

How to install ( Step by Step Process )

1. Connect your Galaxy Note with computer using USB

2. Now, copy and paste OminiROM 4.4 and Google Apps Package into SD card of your Galaxy Note. Don't extract the files.

3. Disconnect Galaxy Note from PC and Switch Off your Note.

4. Reboot into Recovery mode by pressing and holding the Volume Up, Home and Power keys at the same time till the Samsung logo appears.

5. Create nAndroid backup of the current ROM inside the RecoveryMode by selecting "backup and restores > backup" The saved ROM is stored inside the microSD card of the Galaxy Note.

6. Perform a full wipe on the device. Select "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition" Then select "advanced > wipe Dalvik cache."

7. Go back to the main menu and then install the OmniROM 4.4. Select "install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD > search the ROM you have copied earlier > confirm installation." Apply the same with the Google Apps.

8. Once the installation has been completed, go back and then select "reboot system now"

9. The Galaxy Note N7000 will reboot and may reach up to 5 minutes before reaching the home screen.
