Apple iPhone 6 rumors with 10 MP F/1.8 camera Feature

It's still pretty early to be talking about the next generation of Apple iPhone, but the latest report from a Chinese website suggests that the iPhone 5s successor will support an enhanced camera and improved filters over the current model.

Citing the supply chain sources, the report claims that the upcoming iPhone will feature a 10 megapixel rear camera with an aperture of f/1.8. Furthermore, the new camera is said to be accompanied with new and improved filters, which is lighter and thinner than previously used IR filters.

The lighter filters will help capture quality images as it minimizes the color shift of CMOS sensors. The rumored brighter f/1.8 aperture will boost low-light performance and it allow you to do images with shallow depth of field and blur the background while keeping sharp focus on the closer subjects.

Apple is also working on a new image stabilization mechanism, according to a recent patent filling. It looks like the company is working very hard to regain some of ground it lost in the camera department with the next iPhone.

Google Shows Off Gaming Potential Of Glass With Five Simple Games (Google Glass Games)

Google released five simple games for Glass, the company’s buzz-worthy wearable computing device.

In a post on the Glass Developers blog, a spokesperson wrote, “We hacked together five simple games that experiment with the unique features of Glass and demonstrate some of the possibilities for gaming.”

With Tennis, Balance, Clay Shooter, Matcher, and Shape Splitter, Google is making a play for the profitable mobile game market, one that regularly outpaces both traditional gaming revenue as well as other forms of media.

Google Glass has accelerometers and gyroscopes in it, making the head-controlled Tennis and Balance–you need to keep a stack of books from falling off a cartoon character’s head–fairly obvious.Clay Shooter takes a cue from skeet shooting, but in this game, your voice is your trigger. Shape Shifter lets players slice their hands through Glass-displayed objects like Fruit Ninja, and Matcher asks players to match shapes within a grid, similar to something like Bejeweled or Puzzles and Dragons.

Basic though they may be, this move by the Google Glass development team signals an early interest in gaming apps, something that Apple never quite supported early on.

It’s only a matter of time before we start to see gaming take over wearable computing devices like Glass, though the safety issues are important to pay attention to, as well.

“We intentionally wanted games that are quick to get into when you have a few, free minutes,” says the blog post, “and just as easy to get out of when you want to turn your attention back to reality.”

Developers wanting to make games for Google Glass are encouraged to the Glass Development Kit(GDK) for documentation and coding tools.

What’s new On My Android: February 2014

I spend most of my day writing about Android, so I’m always being asked by friends, family, and readers what apps and games I recommend. With that in mind, and to save myself from repeating it over and over again, I thought I’d put together a monthly roundup of the apps I’m using.

These won’t necessarily be brand new apps, but they will be apps I’ve recently discovered that you may not have stumbled across yet. February’s list includes an awesome email client called CloudMagic, a hugely frustrating yet immensely fun game, a third-party KitKat launcher, and more.

CloudMagic — Free

CloudMagic is by far my favorite third-party email client. With support for Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo! Mail, iCloud, Microsoft Exchange, AOL, and many more, it’s ideal for those with multiple mail accounts from different providers.

CloudMagic sports a fantastic design, and it boasts a ton of useful features, including lightning fast search, a unified inbox, reminders, push notifications, a passcode lock, and threaded conversation views. And best of all, it’s completely free.

Agent — Free

I discovered Agent just a week ago, and I can’t believe I knew nothing about it until then. Agent is like having “five apps in one,” it claims, each of which has a special function that makes your Android smartphone more efficient, more useful, and more powerful. Here’s what they do:

Battery Agent helps you get the most out of your battery in between charges by turning off Bluetooth when it’s not being used, lowering the brightness of your display, and pausing background autosync for certain apps. It starts up automatically when your battery reaches a certain percentage (which you choose), then deactivates automatically when your battery level rises again.

Drive Agent is triggered automatically by Bluetooth and motion sensing, when detects when you’re in the car. It then automatically silences your phone, auto-responds to callers and incoming texts to let them know you’re driving, and reads your messages aloud.

Parking Agent remembers where you parked your car as soon as you stop, so you’ll never forget where you left it.

Meeting Agent knows when you’re in a meeting based on your calendar events and automatically silences your phone. It reads local and shared calendars, and you can specify which days you’re working or tell it to activate only for “busy” events.

Sleep Agent silences your phone at night so that you’re not disturbed in your sleep. Tell it what time you go to bed and it’ll do the rest. You can even specify which contacts are allowed to wake you up, and it will allow those ones to make a noise.

Duolingo — Free

I’m going to be heading back to Barcelona for Mobile World Congress later this month, so I recently decided it was time to learn some Spanish. (I’ve actually been promising to do it for years.) I’d heard great things about Duolingo, so I decided to check it out, and I couldn’t be more impressed.

I’m three weeks into my training and I’ve already learned substantially more than I thought I would by now. I still have a long way to go, of course, but Duolingo makes the whole process super simple. It’s quite incredible that you don’t have to pay a penny to use this app.

Flappy Bird — Free

Vj wrote about Flappy Bird, the super simple yet hugely frustrating game from .GEARS, earlier this week. I’ve been addicted to it since I downloaded it, and somehow my Nexus 5 is still in one piece. I’m sure you’ve already heard about this one by now; everyone’s been talking about it recently.

The aim of the game is simple: you must fly a bird between a series of Super Mario-style pipes, and you earn a point for each one you pass without crashing. But you have to control every flap of the bird’s wings by tapping the screen — if you don’t tap, it simply plummets to the ground.

It sounds easy, but it really isn’t — it’s incredible frustrating. But at the same time, it’s also a lot of fun.

KitKat Launcher+ is like a supercharged version of the stock launcher from Android 4.4 KitKat. It allows you to make simple changes that Google doesn’t let you make, without entirely changing the experience altogether. You can use it to remove the Google Search widget, change the size of app icons, specify how many home screens you want, and customize the home button action.

I change my wallpaper on a frequent basis to keep things fresh, but finding images that look good on a 1080p smartphone display isn’t always easily. Fortunately, Backgrounds HD has thousands of them. You can browse recent uploads and popular images, or find wallpapers by category. And when you find one you like, you can set it as from right within the app of favorite it so that it’s easy to find later.

Kaspersky stepback with Facebook SMS Claims

Kaspersky is backpedaled on its earlier statements wherein it claimed that Facebook was intentionally reading users’ SMS and other confidential information. In an emailed statement to various media outlets, Kaspersky denied being the source of insinuation against Facebook.

Kaspersky clarified that it wasn’t the source of the news and that it only intended to comment on the technical aspects of the social networking giant’s Android app’s permissions.

The security company had said yesterday that Facebook’s Android app was under scrutiny over the permissions it was requesting specifically the one related to SMS. “Buried within the latest update for Facebook’s Android app is a feature that is causing growing concern among some users”, Kaspersky had said yesterday.

Kaspersky was also apprehensive for the fact that Facebook was automatically reading the SMS to verify a user’s identity and instead could have provided a prompt to manually enter the verification code.

“The key, it seems to lie in the word ‘automatically’. Surely the app doesn’t need to do this automatically. Facebook could simply prompt me to type in the code manually. Or, at the very least, provide this option,” said Kaspersky.

Hours after the original statements were sent out to media outlets, Kaspersky sent out a clarification saying: “This email was sent out to media at large hoping that we will get queries & would respond to it accordingly. Kaspersky Lab would thus like to clarify their position and state that they are not holding Facebook responsible for this in any manner & are only commenting on the news that has already been published.”

Boy, have headphones changed in the last few years. From something that was simply a black wire that split into 2 earpieces, they’ve morphed into a plethora of options and varieties with an assortment of buttons, sliders, and connections, each meant to make your music experience a little bit more convenient. And with the addition of OEMs designing and creating earphones for specific device models, compatibility issues may arise when you plug them into a new device for the first time.

For Sony Xperia Z Ultra users, XDA Forum Member Pannam offers up a potential fix for issues with headphone / device incompatibility where certain buttons do not work on some devices. The fix basically consists of a simple tweak of a system value labelled headsethook. But first, you must install the provided keytest.apk and with it, find the numerical scancode of your headset. Once that’s done, simply change the headsethook value to the scancode of your headset. You then change the headset scancode to the original headsethook value, and install a third party headset app.

Tutorial: How to gets Headphones working with Sony Xperia Z Ultra

1. Get backup of your Sony Xperia Z Ultra before doing any process.

2. Your Sony Xperia Z Ultra must be rooted.

3. Download KeyTest App

5. Now connect Handset to Xperia Z Ultra and open KeyTest now click any buton.

The gal pal urges The Mother to put herself out there because the love of her life could be right around the corner. And if she doesn’t, he may bump into somebody else. Cue Ted bumping into that random brunette, who is just that: Random. Meanwhile, the gal pal bumps into Barney, but rejects his pick-up line about shamrocking her world.

For some of you, Flappy Bird needs no introduction. The game has garnered a lot of attention these days and it seems everyone and their grandmother is playing it. The game is known for its extremely simple gameplay that takes no time to learn but nearly impossible to master. Thanks to this, Flappy Bird will have you pulling your hair out in no time at all.

Flappy Bird was originally launched on iOS but recently made an appearance on Android as well. So we thought we’ll take a closer look at the game for the four of you who still haven’t installed and played it, yet.

Flappy Bird is a side-scrolling 2D game where your objective is to keep the bird airborne and avoid the pipes as you move forward. You keep the bird in air by tapping on the screen and the more pipes you avoid the higher your score.

Sounds simple enough, right? If only that was the case. Soon you’ll learn that it is easier to keep an F-22 Raptor with one wing missing in air than the bird in this game. The bird in this game is basically a brick with wings and will go down just as quick if you stop tapping on the screen. Understandably, then, navigating something like this through tight gaps requires the precision of a neurosurgeon on cocaine otherwise you will find yourself going face first into the first pipe that you come across. And you’ll be running into a lot of pipes, which explains why the bird’s beak is so puffy.

The gameplay is very addictive, especially if you get into comparing scores with your friends. Then you can’t stop playing even if you want to because you keep thinking you will make that high score the next time. If you don’t throw your phone out after the first five hundred times you die in the game, then eventually you learn how to keep the bird in the air without touching the pipes for a while. After about a day of playing I managed to reach 25 without breaking the phone but that’s just because I have the patience of a monk.

Being a free game there are ads in the game. Thankfully, there are no ads when you are actually playing the game but you do see them in the menus. I wish there was an option to pay and remove the ads.
Graphics and Sound

Flappy Bird has an 8-bit look to it, which is quite popular these days. It’s extremely bare bones, however, and there is not a lot of detail in the environment. Not that it’s a big deal as it doesn’t really affect the game negatively. The game is meant to be simple and it shows in the visuals. Besides, it’s less than 1MB on Android.

The same minimalism continues in the sound, which has no music whatsoever. There is one sound for flapping of wings, one for when you successfully pass a set of pipes and one when you hit something. The audio too takes on an old-school approach and sounds like old 8-bit games.
