Amazing Spider-Man 2 Villain Rumors coming soon

New Amazing Spider-Man 2 Villain Rumors and Trailer Teaser Buzz

Amazing Spider-Man 2 Villain Rumors coming soon_FeatureUp

The fact that this character appears on a poster probably means that an official announcement is coming soon, but those of you who want to avoid any hint of potential spoilers may want to skip this article.
Still with us? Okay, then.
By now, you have probably seen this banner for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 passing around the internet, via Twitter user @arkhamhc.

While Sony has not verified its authenticity, it is very likely that the ad, found in Las Vegas, is official. Otherwise, holy cow, somebody hire this artist.
The photo, which can be enlarged by clicking on it, shows that the banner is actually 3 posters combined, each devoted to a different villain. The poster on the right shows Electro, while the poster on the left shows what looks like a mech version of Rhino.

And in the center appears to be Green Goblin, who has not been announced yet -- despite the casting of Chronicle's Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn and The Bourne Identity's Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn. From the initial photo, the character looks a lot like the New Goblin (James Franco) from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3.
Fortunately, another Twitter user, @Tupacca, has given us a closer look at the flying foe.
Amazing Spider-Man 2's Goblin?
This close-up raises quite a few questions. Slash Film points out that the character's face resembles DeHaan much more than Cooper. Is Harry going to be Green Goblin? Will we have an evil father-son team-up? Does this costume look better or worse than Willem Dafoe's Power Rangers-esque take on the villain in the original Spider-Man movie?
Another bit of news could hint at yet another villain. This comes from Sony's viral news blog The Daily Bugle. Reporter Ned Leeds -- who becomes Hobgoblin in the Spider-Man comics, but that isn't even the story here -- writes about a bank robbery the police were unable to stop because "some kind of sustained vibration literally shook the door off its hinges and ripped the walls apart in the process.” Detective Stan Carter -- another reference to the comics -- states, "When we catch him, we don’t expect anything more than a common crook with a clever toy.”
Cinema Blend points out that this description sounds very similar to the classic Spider-Man villain Shocker, an infamous safe-cracker who uses special gauntlets to shoot high-frequency blasts of vibration.
Shocker, one of Spider-Man's more ... electrifying ... adversaries.
Shocker, one of Spider-Man's more ... vibrant ... adversaries.
And as if that wasn't enough Spider-Man movie news, Coming Soon has three international teasers for the trailer, which will premiere this Thursday, December 5th.

Yes, we are aware how obnoxious teasers for trailers are, but they reveal something interesting about the title. El Sorprendente Hombre-Araña 2: La Amenaza de Electro translates to The Amazing Spider-Man: The Threat of Electro.
While that subtitle is just a little bit clunky translated and probably won't end up being the final English title, it sounds a heck of a lot better than the much threatened subtitle of Rise of Electro, if you'll pardon the editorializing. Somebody needs to declare a moratorium on "Rise" as a viable movie title word.
That ends your exhausting glut of Amazing Spider-Man 2 news for the day. Does the prospect of four classic villains debuting in the same movie excite or frustrate you? What do you think would make a good subtitle? Snarky contributions are welcome and expected.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 premieres in theaters May 2, 2014.
